About Tom

Tom has been immersed in the world of media since 2012, when he began his BTEC Creative Media course at college. His passion for storytelling and broadcasting led him to the University of Lincoln, where he earned a First-Class Honours degree in Media Production in 2017. Building on that success, he immediately undertook a Master’s degree in Sports Journalism, producing a standout BRM radio documentary on Graham Hill’s 1962 Formula 1 championship-winning season. The project earned him a Distinction and marked the culmination of 20 years of education.

After graduating, Tom pursued opportunities across the media landscape. He secured writing roles with The Checkered Flag, Downforce Radio, and Motorsport Week, before landing his first major role in 2022 as a Logger and Researcher at Formula 1. Working at F1’s Media and Technology Centre in Biggin Hill during race weekends, he continues to contribute behind the scenes of one of the world’s premier sports broadcasts.

In addition to his work at F1, Tom lends his voice as a commentator to virtual motorsport championships across platforms like Downforce Radio, XL5 Media and JPBroadcasting. His current goal is to transition into live commentary and presenting roles in real-world motorsport — particularly in karting, junior single-seaters, and club-level car racing.

Podcasting is another growing area of Tom’s media presence. In 2025, he launched Cairns Catches Up, a podcast series featuring conversations with personalities from the motorsport world. Guests share their stories, discuss the challenges they’ve faced, and offer advice to aspiring professionals aiming to break into the industry. Tom also co-hosts on the Global Sports Podcast Network, contributing to discussions within the Manchester United fan community — his lifelong team.
